Guillermo C. Artiles is an Associate at McCarter & English where he focuses his practice on intellectual property, specifically Hatch-Waxman litigation in federal court. Also a registered Government Affairs Agent in New Jersey, Mr. Artiles compliments his litigation practice as a member of the Public Strategy Group, helping clients achieve their governmental, media, and business development objectives. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Artiles served as a law clerk to the Honorable Esther Salas, United States District Judge, District of New Jersey. Mr. Artiles has also served as Corporate Counsel at Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, the largest commercial & industrial solar energy developer in the United States. Mr. Artiles also worked in the Intergovernmental Affairs Group in the Office of the Governor of New Jersey, as the Governor’s Executive Fellow from Rutgers University’s Eagleton Institute of Politics. Mr. Artiles is a noted adviser on U.S.-Cuba relations, actively involved with the Americas Society/Council of the Americas, Cuba Study Group, Cuba Now, and New Cuba PAC. Mr. Artiles writes, speaks, and counsels clients on the macro and micro opportunities that exist on the island. In the community, Mr. Artiles serves as Trustee of the Hispanic Bar Association of New Jersey; Deputy Regional President of the Hispanic National Bar Association; General Counsel to Hijos Del Exilio; Board Member of the New Jersey Legal & Education Empowerment Project, Waterfront Project and Full Court Peace. Mr. Artiles received a B.A. from Hamilton College and a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law. In law school, he was Articles Editor of the Rutgers Law Review, President of the Student Bar Association, and Vice President of the Association of Latin American Law Students. At graduation, he was awarded the American Bar Association & American Law Institute Prize, an honor recognizing the graduate who best represents a combination of scholarship and leadership.
