Edward Barker

Director, Trade Strategy & Capability at Department for International Trade (UK)

From 2013 to 2016 Edward Barker was responsible for leading the UK’s engagement in the EU-US trade and investment negotiation (TTIP) as well as BIS interests in the National Security Council. This followed over five years leading for the UK on trade policy (including trade negotiations) and wider international economic issues in the EU, WTO, OECD and G8, from both BIS and the FCO (where he also led work to make FCO more responsive to business). Edward has lived and worked in the US (advising a power company on its growth strategy) and in South Africa (for Deloitte Consulting).
