Richard P Hamada

Rick Hamada was named Chief Executive Officer of Avnet, Inc. in 2011. He joined Hamilton/Avnet Electronics in 1983 as a technical specialist in San Diego, California. His career evolved to encompass sales and leadership roles with the company, including field sales representative, regional sales manager and vice president of business development. In 2002 Mr. Hamada was named global president of Avnet Computer Marketing. In 2003 Avnet Computer Marketing and Avnet Applied Computing were integrated to form Avnet Technology Solutions. Mr. Hamada served as global president of Avnet Technology Solutions until 2006. In 2006 Mr. Hamada was named Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was promoted to President and COO in 2010. As COO, he was instrumental in enhancing Avnet's performance- and values-based culture of excellence, while helping Avnet achieve superior results. Additionally, he led efforts to drive profitable growth through enterprise initiatives focused on continuous improvement, employee engagement and customer engagement. Mr. Hamada was named to Computer Reseller News' Top 25 Most Influential Channel Executives three times. He served as chairman of the Global Technology Distribution Council, an industry consortium representing the world's leading IT distributors. He currently serves on the board of directors of Keysight Technologies, a global electronic measurement technology and market leader. Mr. Hamada holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from San Diego State University, where in 2009 he was named as a member of the advisory board of its College of Business Administration.
