Joel joined AES in 1995 and became a member of the leadership team in 2020 as Senior Vice President, Mergers and Acquisitions. After serving seven years in business development in Asia and the United States, he became AES’ first Director of Project Finance and later founded our Portfolio Management group to accelerate energy transformation on a holistic level. Joel’s time directing the Investor Relations group, serving as Chief Financial Officer, Global Generation, and leading global Corporate Planning and Development heightened a wide breadth and depth of expertise to lead our company into the future of the energy industry. He has served on the board of several AES portfolio companies, including AES Clean Energy, sPower, AES Gener (now AES Andes) and Uplight. Joel earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics and Economics from Middlebury College and participated in leadership programs at University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business and Georgetown University. He lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and three children.
