Peter O’Rourke brings a highly diverse set of skills in transformation, innovation, and leadership honed over 27 years of demanding fields and challenges. During his career he served as a Navy enlisted Plane Captain, an Air Force Officer and Logistician, Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt in consulting and government service, and as a Senior Policy Advisor, Congressional Staffer and Executive Director for a non-profit focused on generating support for Federal Government efficiency. In his previous role as the Executive Director for the Office of Accountability and Whistleblower Protection, he has applied his skill sets to establishing and leading this new office from the President’s signature on the Accountability Act to actual boots-on-the ground addressing the issues within VA that the Act called for. Mr. O’Rourke has been providing responsive and effective counsel to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Under and Assistant Secretaries as well as field leadership within the VHA and VBA. He has quickly become an inextricable voice of reason to many leaders within VA struggling with long term accountability and culture issues. Mr. O’Rourke is a 1998 graduate from the University of Tennessee and the USAF Institute of Technology in 2005.
