A statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of New York confirms Mack, 35, was charged with sex trafficking, sex trafficking conspiracy and forced labor conspiracy. Mack — best known for her years-long role as Chloe Sullivan on The WB’s Smallville — faces a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison if convicted on all of her charges. The allegations against Mack are connected to Nxivm, whose co-founder Keith Raniere was accused of sex trafficking and forced labor. According to the statement, Mack is accused of recruiting women to join what was purported to be a female mentorship group to address their weaknesses but was actually a group created by Raniere that allegedly took advantage of women sexually. Raniere and Mack were the first of six NXIVM members to be charged in the Eastern District of New York in Brooklyn. Mack pleaded guilty to racketeering and racketeering conspiracy in April 2019, a month before Raniere went to trial. Jurors convicted Raniere on all counts, including sex trafficking, forced labor conspiracy, fraud and racketeering charges that included acts of possessing child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child, extortion and identity theft. Senior Judge Nicholas Garaufis sentenced Raniere last October 2020 to 120 years in prison, A month earlier, the judge imposed an 81-month sentence (six years and nine months) on Clare Bronfman for conspiracy to harbor illegal immigrants for financial gain and fraudulent use of identification.
