Byron Allen

The 61-year-old comedian, television producer, businessman, and philanthropist, Byron Allen is popularly known for being the founder of the Los Angeles-based media company, Entertainment studios, including The Weather Channel. Born Byron Allen Folks, he was born April 22, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. His mother moved to Los Angeles after divorcing Alvin Folks, went to school as a film and TV undergraduate at UCLA, got hired as a page at NBC Studios in Burbank, and worked her way up to publicist. She brought Allen with her most days. He took up a career as a stand-up comedian at as early as age 14, performing in comedy clubs in Los Angeles. making his first appearance on television on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson at age 18. Hey completed his high school education at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles and is an alumnus of the University of Southern California. He subsequently became a television presenter on the NBC series Real People. He became the host of Kickin’ It with Byron Allen in 1992. As a television producer, he founded Entertainment Studios based in Los Angeles in 1993. Entertainment Studios acquired The Weather Channel in 2018. AllenMedia Group also has acquired more than a dozen local broadcast stations since 2019. In 2017 he married Jennifer Lucas, a film producer and writer. They have two daughters, and a son. They are Olivia Rose Allen born on April 7, 2010, Lucas Byron Allen born on December 11, 2012, and Chloe Ava Allen born on August 22, 2008. His net worth was estimated at $500 million in 2023.
