The 61-year-old comedian, television producer, businessman, and philanthropist, Byron Allen is popularly known for being the founder of the Los Angeles-based media company, Entertainment studios, including The Weather Channel. Born Byron Allen Folks, he was born April 22, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan. His mother moved to Los Angeles after divorcing Alvin Folks, went to school as a film and TV undergraduate at UCLA, got hired as a page at NBC Studios in Burbank, and worked her way up to publicist.
