John Dean is a principal in the public affairs firm of Washington Partners, LLC and represents clients involved in federal higher education programs. Dean's clients include financial and educational institutions involved in the federal student assistance programs. Dean currently serves as the board president of the National College Access Network (NCAN) and is a director of the KnowledgeWorks Foundation. Both organizations are involved in helping to expand college opportunities for students. Prior to entering private practice in 1985, Dean served as associate counsel to the House Education and Labor Committee, where he worked on the 1979, 1980, and 1981 amendments to the Higher Education Act. Dean also supported committee members on budget and appropriations matters. John Dean received a B.A. from Georgetown University in 1973, and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1982.
