As a former partner of Carson Ryan, one of New Mexico’s most established energy law firms, and General Counsel to one of New Mexico’s largest producers of oil and gas, Mr. Carson brings a broad perspective to the practice of law. In those roles, he participated in projects or cases covering the spectrum of issues faced by the energy industry and experienced first-hand, the problems and issues faced daily by employers and employees. Mr. Carson understands, from the client’s perspective, the need for solutions that are both timely and cost-effective. Mr. Carson obtained his B.B.A. in Finance from Texas Tech University. He continued his education at the University of New Mexico School of Law, where he earned the Corpus Juris Secundum Award in Property Law and served as Administrative Editor of the Natural Resources Journal. Following law school, Mr. Carson served for two years as law clerk to Judge Bobby R. Baldock of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Mr. Carson serves on numerous industry committees, including the legal committees for both the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association and the Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico. In addition to these committees, Mr. Carson is a member of the New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission and was selected by Governor Susana Martinez to serve on the energy and environment transition team following her election in November 2010.
