Lindsay Meyer

Lindsay Meyer heads the International Trade Practice at Venable assisting sophisticated companies to efficiently import and export goods under U.S. laws and regulations. As a licensed U.S. Customs broker, Lindsay has a detailed knowledge of and extensive experience with the regulations of the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection. For twenty years, Ms. Meyer has provided international trade and customs advice at Venable. Ms. Meyer has successfully represented companies in antidumping duty investigations and reviews before the U.S. Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission. She has also regularly provided focused customs counseling to Fortune 100 clients, by conducting pre-audit import and export compliance assessments including corporate-wide, multi-location assessments and training programs. She counsels clients on U.S. export control authorization and represents them in import and export investigations. While at Venable, Ms. Meyer has represented numerous companies before various U.S. regulatory authorities such as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, International Trade Commission, U.S. Departments of Treasury, State, and Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security. She has also assisted in the representation of clients in the defense of unfair trade actions alleging infringement of intellectual property rights under Section 337. Ms. Meyer regularly practices before the U.S. Court of International Trade and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition to trade matters, Ms. Meyer advises clients on international transactional matters. For example, she counsels on sales and distribution arrangements in the United States and abroad; the use of foreign agents and representative offices; and joint venture and international teaming agreements. One of the distinctive advantages Ms. Meyer offers is her position as a licensed U.S. Customs broker. Another advantage she offers clients stems from her well-established relationships with counsel in other countries with whom she works on a regular basis. Ms. Meyer brings to her practice extensive years of experience in a multitude of trade matters and the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex legal issues. Ms. Meyer is active in business and trade associations related to her profession. She served four terms as Chair of the International Trade and Customs Committee for the American Bar Association's Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, is a member of the American Association of Exporters and Importers, and is serving in her second term on the Maryland-Washington District Export Council under the appointment of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce. She is a member of the Virginia and District of Columbia Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
