Bruce A Smith

Bruce Smith joined Tesoro as Chief Financial Officer in 1992, became President of the company’s exploration and production business, and in 1995, was named President and Chief Executive Officer and elected to the Board of Directors. He was named Tesoro’s Chairman in 1996. Mr. Smith provides overall leadership in developing and implementing the strategic direction of the company. Previously, Mr. Smith was Vice President and Treasurer of Valero Energy Corporation and Vice President and Manager of the International Energy Division for Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a financial analyst at Ford Motor Company. He received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Westminster College and his master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in finance from the University of Kansas. He is on the boards of Noble Energy, Inc. and the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association.
