Lawrence J Wolfe

On January 1, 2007, Mr. Wolfe became the Managing Partner of Holland & Hart. In this position, he reports to the Chairman of the Management Committee and the five-member Committee. He is also responsible for the day-to-day management of Holland & Hart and for implementing its strategic goals and plans. Mr. Wolfe served as the Chairman of Holland & Hart's Natural Resources Department from 2001 through 2006. That department is a fully integrated group of more than 50 lawyers practicing in energy, water rights, environmental, minerals and utility law in all states in which Holland & Hart has offices. He was one of three Department Chairs who had day-to-day management responsibility for the Firm's legal practices. He is listed in Best Lawyers in America in the fields of natural resources, energy, administrative, governmental relations, water, and environmental law. He is also recognized as a leading attorney by Chambers USA in the practice areas of Corporate, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Tax Law and General Commercial Litigation. In addition, he is recognized in the area of environmental law in the 2007 Mountain States Super Lawyers and he was the subject of a feature article in that publication. Mr. Wolfe joined Holland & Hart in 1985 after serving as Chief of the Natural Resources Division, Wyoming Attorney General's Office from 1983 to 1985 and Assistant Attorney General from 1980 to 1985. While serving with the Attorney General's Office he represented the State in water and environmental issues and served as the State's chief water lawyer. Mr. Wolfe was appointed by the Wyoming Governor in October 1995 to serve on the Title 39 Task Force, which was charged with rewriting and recodifying the entire Wyoming Tax Code. This was a multi-year effort that resulted in the 1998 Wyoming Legislature adopting a completely revised tax code. Mr. Wolfe has served the Cheyenne community in various capacities including Chairman of Cheyenne LEADS, Chairman of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, President of the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra, Chairman of the Economic Development Joint Powers Board, and President of the Board of Directors of Southeast Wyoming Legal Services. He is also a member of the Cheyenne Rotary Club. Mr. Wolfe has been a contributing editor to the RIA State and Local Taxation publication and has written a monograph on Wyoming Sales and Use Tax.
