José Baselga is the Physician-in-Chief and Chief Medical Officer at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and Professor of Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College. His long-standing research interests are in the development of targeted agents for the treatment of breast cancer and in studying strategies to overcome mechanisms of resistance, with over 394 peer-reviewed publications to date. Prior to MSK, Dr. Baselga was the Chief of the Division of Hematology / Oncology, Associate Director of the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center and Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. He also was the Chairman of Medical Oncology and Founding Director of the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology in Barcelona, Spain. Dr. Baselga is a past President of the American Association of Cancer Research (AACR) and of the European Society for Medical Oncology, and a past member of the Board of Directors for the American Society of Clinical Oncology and AACR. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians, and a Fellow of the AACR Academy. He is a past member of the Editorial Boards of Cancer Cell, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Clinical Cancer Research and is the founding editor-in-chief for the AACR flagship journal Cancer Discovery.
