J Steven Whisler

J. Steven Whisler retired as chairman and chief executive officer of Phelps Dodge Corporation upon its merger with Freeport Copper and Gold, Inc. in March 2007. Mr. Whisler served as chairman and chief executive officer of Phelps Dodge Corporation from November 2003 until March 2007. He was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Phelps Dodge Corporation from May 2000 until November 2003. Mr. Whisler is a director of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation, the U.S. Airways Group, Inc., and the Brunswick Corporation. He is also a director of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. Director since December 11, 2007.
