Dr. Ruffolo joined Wyeth in November 2000 as Executive Vice President, Pharmaceutical R&D, Wyeth Research. In that role, he has been responsible for pharmaceutical research and development for Wyeth, including Discovery, Drug Safety and Metabolism, Chemical and Pharmaceutical Development, Clinical R&D and Research Operations and Planning. Prior to joining Wyeth, Dr. Ruffolo was with SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals, where he was Senior Vice President and Director, Biological Sciences. During his 16-year tenure at SmithKline Beecham, he held positions with increasing responsibility. Prior to SmithKline Beecham, he was with Lilly Research Laboratories for six years. Dr. Ruffolo also served as a Staff Fellow, Postdoctoral Research Associate, at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, The National Institutes of Health, Laboratory of Biochemical Genetics. He holds a Ph.D. in pharmacology from The Ohio State University. He also is an adjunct professor, Division of Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy at Ohio State. He is an author and editor of hundreds of scholarly publications. Dr. Ruffolo lives in Spring City, Pennsylvania with his wife and three children.
