Pierre Casimir-Lambert was on the Board of Directors of Solvay, the Belgian multi-national pharmaceuticals, plastics and chemicals group, from 1971 to 2003. Solvay is one of Belgium's largest industrial companies. In the early 1970's, alongside his directorship of a family glass holding company, he served as a member of the Board of Directors and "Management Committee" of Glaverbel S.A., a Belgian based, largely European flat glass company (a traditional family activity), having worked as a plant and production technical manager in flat glass from 1961 to 1972 in Belgium, Holland and Italy. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from M.I.T. in 1955, an M.B.A. in Chemical Engineering Practice in 1956 and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1960. During that time he served in the USAF Brussels office of the USAF Research and Development Command as an R & D contracting officer. The office operated in support of the USAF R & D effort (especially in space related projects). Thereafter, he worked a year at the Economic Development Administration of Puerto Rico, before returning to Europe and the flat glass industry and subsequently, in 1968, obtained a degree from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva. In 1968, Pierre joined the management team of the European venture capital sister company of "ARD" (American Research and Development), founded by General Doriot of HBS. Since 1974 he has been fully engaged in global investment management for his family interests. More recently he became a Trustee of two family foundations, the Holloway Foundation in the USA, which focuses on medical research on cancer and education for young underprivileged women, and the Salvia Foundation, based in Switzerland, which funds environmental projects world-wide.
