As a Legislative Director for two Members of the House Appropriations Committee, including U.S. Representative Hal Rogers (R-KY), Chairman of the new Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, and Legislative Assistant to the Ranking Republican on the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Subcommittee, Steve has played key roles in the acceleration of completion of existing federal projects and the creation of new programs. Mr. Carey’s Congressional experience is enhanced by his assignment as Legislative Director in the United States Senate to a Subcommittee Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and Member of the Education and Labor, and Environment and Public Works Committees. Steve was honorably discharged in 1988 having served four years in the United States Marine Corps and is the recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal. He has lectured political science students at George Mason University and has been published by the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and is an alumnus of the University of Michigan.
