Reding, who has 30 years of experience as a pilot, previously served as Chief Operations Officer for American Eagle Airlines and as the Chief Executive of two airlines. He was responsible for all aspects of flight operations, operational planning and performance, and maintenance and engineering for American Eagle. Prior to joining AMR Corporation, Reding was the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Regional Airlines, the largest regional air carrier in Canada, as well as being responsible for Canadian Airlines Cargo and all ancillary business relationships. Before joining Canadian Airlines, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Reno Air and was a founding member of the management team that established and certified the company in 1992. Prior to Reno Air, Reding served as Vice President of Flight Operations at Midway Airlines in Chicago and held various senior management positions at Air Florida, including Vice President of Flight Operations. Reding is a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force pilot training program and served as an officer and pilot flight examiner with the United States Air Force from 1972 to 1979. He has an FAA Air Transport Pilot Rating for Douglas DC-9/MD-80 and Boeing 737 series aircraft and has accumulated over 10,000 hours as a commercial pilot. Reding is an honors graduate from the California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Aeronautical Engineering and received his master's degree in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University. He is a member of the President's Council of the California State Polytechnic University and has served as a board member on numerous aviation, civic and charitable organizations.
