H Lee Barfield II

Lee Barfield has more than 35 years of experience litigating, mediating and arbitrating civil cases, both jury and non-jury, in state and federal court, including many high profile cases with substantial media coverage. Since the elections of 2010 when Republicans gained control of the House, Senate and the Governor's office in Tennessee, Lee has been actively involved in lobbying the Tennessee General Assembly on a variety of issues. He has organized, led and represented business and citizen coalitions supporting adoption of tort reform and tax reform. He worked for a constitutional amendment to change the method of selecting appellate judges in Tennessee to a modified federal plan with retention elections, but eliminating costly and divisive contested elections. Lee also has been working for adoption of a number of vital educational reforms in K through 12 education as a board member of two leading national educational reform groups. Lee's litigation clients include businesses and corporations in a wide range of industries, including hospitals, nursing homes, computer software and development services, and insurance. His lobbying clients include national business organizations, a major drug company and a variety of citizen groups organized around reforms in judicial selection, lawsuits and taxes.
