Richard Miles co-founded the Cade Museum and has been Vice President of the Board of Directors since September 2010. A career Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State from 1993-2009, Mr. Miles served in various jobs domestically and overseas. His assignments included a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Iraq, the staff of the National Security Council at the White House during the George W. Bush administration, and postings in Argentina, Germany, and Barbados. Mr. Miles writes frequently on foreign affairs, and has been published in the Washington Post, USA Today, Foreign Policy, the Wall Street Journal Europe, Newsweek, World Magazine, and the New York Daily News. During the 2016 presidential campaign he also served as a foreign policy advisor to Governor Jeb Bush. Before entering the Foreign Service, Mr. Miles was an intelligence officer in the 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) stationed in Nuremberg, Germany from 1988-1991. With the 2nd ACR, he also participated in Operation Desert Shield in Saudi Arabia and in combat operations in Kuwait and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Mr. Miles received a B.A. in Russian Studies from the University of Washington in 1987, and an M.S. in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in 1993. He is fluent in Spanish and German. Mr. Miles is currently the Senior Warden on the Vestry of All Saints Church in Chevy Chase, Maryland. He and his wife, Phoebe, have a son in the U.S. Navy serving on a submarine stationed in Guam, and two daughters and a son-in-law living and working in Washington D.C.
