Peter J McDonough

McDonough resigned from T-CAP partners in 2004 after a six-month engagement with the firm. He is now an adjunct professor at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey where he teaches the masters and PhD seminar in American Politics. McDonough is a communications, political campaign and public policy professional with more than 30 years experience designing, directing and executing successful efforts to promote policy initiatives, candidates and the interests of corporate clients throughout the US and in Eastern Europe. Pete McDonough is a seasoned media trainer who has coached governors, members of congress, cabinet members, corporate executives and government leaders in the US and Europe. He previously served as director of communications for NJ Governor Christie Whitman, chief of staff for the NJ Department of the Treasury, chief of staff for a member of the US House of Representatives and as executive director in the NJ General Assembly. Mr. McDonough was a consultant for the US State Department where he lectured and trained government officials and journalists in Russia, Ukraine, Kosovo and Belarus. He served as a consultant for the Agency for International Development (USAID)/National Endowment for Democracy in Romania and Ukraine, and was an international election observer for the presidential elections in Nigeria in 2003. He is an adjunct professor and visiting associate at the Eagleton Institute of Politics at Rutgers University where he teaches the institute’s seminar, Perspectives in America Politics, for masters and doctoral candidates. Opinion editorials written by Mr. McDonough have appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Moscow Times, the Washington Times and dozens of other publications in the US. He has been a regular contributor to the Newark Star-Ledger and has appeared as an analyst for several network television affiliates.
