Eileen Kahaner

EILEEN L. KAHANER practices in the Healthcare group out of the firm’s San Francisco office. She has experience counseling healthcare providers on state and federal fraud and abuse, regulatory, revenue cycle, HIPAA, transactional, and corporate compliance matters. She also has advised clients involved in federal and state government Medicare and Medicaid audits and investigations. Ms. Kahaner spent four years working for a major pharmaceutical manufacturer as a sales representative before becoming an attorney. Ms. Kahaner regularly advises clients regarding regulatory compliance issues and assists them in designing and implementing their corporate compliance programs. She has drafted model compliance programs for national trade associations. In addition, on behalf of providers subject to federal investigation, she has negotiated corporate integrity agreements with the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Health and Human Services. Ms. Kahaner has counseled covered entities, business associates and third parties on HIPAA privacy and security complaince. She also worked with national trade associations to develop model compliance programs addressing HIPAA and medical information confidentiality and security. Ms. Kahaner represents a diverse group of clients, including hospitals, physician practices, practice management companies, healthcare consulting companies, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic imaging providers, hospices, durable medical equipment suppliers, and pharmaceutical companies. Ms. Kahaner speaks to groups of providers and associations on legal issues of importance and has written for numerous publications on compliance and HIPAA topics.
