Kathy Duarte serves as Policy Advisor and Appropriations Coordinator at Graefelaw. She first partnered with Mr. Graefe in 2001, at the D.C. law firm of Baker & Hostetler. Prior to that, Ms. Duarte worked with the Tallahassee, Florida, Public Defender's Office conducting legal research and analysis. With Graefelaw, Ms. Duarte focuses on appropriations efforts for the Firm's clients, arranging client meetings with senior Members of Congress, committee counsels, and staff. Additionally, she works closely with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services to further the health care policy objectives of the Firm. Fluent in Spanish, Ms. Duarte is active in her Mount Pleasant neighborhood of D.C., and is deeply involved in the Washington culture and arts scene. She is currently completing a Masters of Public Policy at George Mason University, and received a B.S. in Biology and B.A. in Communications Studies from Florida State University.
