Rick Shapiro began his work on complex public policy issues over 30 years ago and much of his career has been focused on energy and natural resources issues. Mr. Shapiro, who has led public affairs organizations for three Global Fortune 500 companies during his career, specializes in serving as a strategic advisor to corporate public affairs leadership and in helping them manage their most critical public policy challenges. Prior to his current role as President of the consulting firm, Public Affairs Engagement, Mr. Shapiro was a senior member of the team at Quinn Gillespie and Associates, managing energy and resource management issues for Fortune 500 clients. Prior to that role, he served as executive vice president of public affairs for CEMEX’s U.S. operations and was responsible for the company’s governmental affairs, communications and community relation’s functions. Mr. Shapiro also led a multi-year legislative and regulatory campaign for market-oriented reforms in the electricity and natural gas sectors while serving as the managing director of government and regulatory affairs for Enron. Mr. Shapiro received his Bachelor’s degree with Honors from James Madison University and a J.D. with High Honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law. Mr. Shapiro divides his time between his residence in The Woodlands, Texas, with his wife Amy, sons Ben and Jonny, and Shih Tzu Milani and Washington DC.
