Prior to co-founding FieroNow, Maureen served as an executive consultant to New Classrooms Innovation Partners responsible for start-up, operating and strategic projects. New Classrooms is a national, nonprofit organization that designs new models for instruction that are personalized to the particular academic needs and strengths of individual students. Prior to New Classrooms Innovative Partners, Maureen worked for New York City Schools Chancellor Joel Klein. She joined the Chancellor in 2003 as project manager responsible for the implementation of the first phase of Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s public school reform initiative and was later named Chancellor Klein’s Chief of Staff, a post she held until 2005. As Chief of Staff, Maureen was responsible for working with Chancellor Klein and his Deputy Chancellors on both daily operations and the continued implementation of the Mayor’s reform plan. In addition, she was also responsible for a review and overhaul of the Department’s $15 billion budget process; a restructuring of the prioritization and approval process for information technology spending within the department; the initial design of a school based accountability system and the formation and private funding of a public/private partnership for teacher training that included the Department of Education, New York University and the City University of New York. Prior to New York City Schools Chancellor’s office, Maureen spent 10 years working with Jim Wolfensohn and Paul Volcker in their merger and acquisition advisory business, James D. Wolfensohn Incorporated, where she was named a Partner in 1993. Following the sale of Wolfensohn to Bankers Trust in 1996, Maureen became a Partner and Senior Managing Director of BT Wolfensohn. During her career at Wolfensohn she completed numerous merger transactions and handled strategic and financial advisory assignments in a variety of industries. Her clients included Kmart; The Sports Authority; OfficeMax; Polo Ralph Lauren; Cyprus Amax Minerals; Alumax; The Molson Companies and Olympia and York. Prior to Wolfensohn, Maureen spent seven years completing numerous leveraged acquisitions and corporate debt restructuring transactions as vice president at Citibank. Maureen has served on a variety of nonprofit boards where she held leadership roles in the areas of fiscal accountability, strategic planning and board governance. She is currently on the board of the Roundabout Theatre in New York where she serves as a member of the Operating, Budget and Education Committees. Maureen is a graduate of New York University and Harvard Business School.
