: Mr. Okarma was an attorney at Inland Steel Company, in Chicago, from 1977 through 1982. He then served as assistant secretary and senior attorney at Borg-Warner Corporation from 1982 through 1989, before joining Johnson Controls as assistant general counsel. He was named to his current position in 2004. : Mr. Okarma was awarded the Western Illinois University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2004. He is currently on the board of the United Way Leadership Team, Legal Division. : Mr. Okarma has a Bachelor of Arts in history (with honors) from Western Illinois University in 1974. He received a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law in 1977.
