Mr. Edens served as a Professional Staff Member on the Senate Armed Services Committee from January 1999 until January 2003. His areas of responsibility included combating terrorism, homeland security, counter-drug and regional foreign policy issues. In carrying out these duties, Ed traveled abroad extensively. Additionally, he served as the lead Republican staff member for the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities. Ed was responsible for coordinating all activities of the Subcommittee, including establishing priorities and developing hearing topics and goals in preparation for consideration of the annual Department of Defense authorization bill. Mr. Edens earned a BA in Government from St. Lawrence University in 1986.
