Amy Slater

Adjunct Professor Amy Slater practiced law for more than twenty years in both law firms and companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. From 1997 to 2000, Ms. Slater was the General Counsel of Ask Jeeves (now Ask.com). Her many years of law practice confirmed for Ms. Slater the value of alternative dispute resolution and she has been teaching the subject, both at Hastings and at the Goldman School of Public Policy at UC Berkeley, for the last eight years. Ms. Slater received her J.D. from UC Hastings in 1981 and her B.A. in Political Science, summa cum laude, from the University of California, San Diego in 1976. In addition to teaching, Ms. Slater serves on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations and enjoys traveling, running, hiking and other outdoor activities.
