Margaret M Stewart

Professor Stewart teaches and writes in the areas of civil procedure, the federal courts and constitutional law. Her latest scholarship examines issues of jurisdiction and the Internet. From 1999 to 2000, she served as project director and reporter for the American Bar Association's Global Cyberspace Jurisdiction Project. The project's final report, Achieving Legal and Business Order in Cyberspace: A Report on Global Jurisdiction Issues Created by the Internet, appears at 55 The Business Lawyer 1801 (2000). Professor Stewart received her bachelor's degree from Kalamazoo College and her law degree from Northwestern University, where she served as notes and comments editor of the Northwestern University Law Review. She was admitted to the New York Bar and was associated with the New York firm of Wilkie, Farr & Gallagher from 1971 to 1974. Prior to joining the IIT Chicago-Kent faculty as an associate professor, she was an assistant professor of law at the University of South Carolina School of Law from 1974 to 1977.
