Anne received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. A tax lawyer specializing in federal income tax, Anne practiced at Morgan, Lewis in Washington, D.C. from 1982-1985. After returning to the Philadelphia area to marry a fellow tax lawyer, she practiced at Ballard Spahr in Philadelphia until 1993, then retired to teach and raise three kids, now mostly grown. Anne has taught courses on various aspects of federal income tax law as an adjunct instructor at Villanova Law School and the Villanova Graduate tax Program. A life-long Democrat, Anne has been working with the Democratic Committee of Lower Merion and Narberth since moving to the township in 2003, serving as a 6th ward committee person and, most recently, as the committee’s finance chair. Anne is a local chair of the New York City-based Fresh Air Fund through which over 60 children from underserved neighborhoods visit Lower Merion and other Main Line communities every summer. Anne also serves on the board of the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater and recently joined the Ashbridge Park committee of the Main Line Art Center. Anne lives in Villanova with her husband, Rick Umbrecht, her three children, Ricky, Laura, and Michael, and their miniature schnauzer puppy, Nick, who is almost housebroken.
