Neal co-founded EJF Capital LLC (EJF) in 2005. EJF is an independent, employee-owned, SEC-registered investment adviser that manages a diverse group of alternative investment strategies for qualified individuals, institutions, foundations, and endowments. EJF manages approximately $6.2 billion in assets (as of September 30, 2014). Prior to forming EJF Capital, Neal served as senior managing director for both the Alternative Asset Investments and Private Wealth Management groups at Friedman Billings Ramsey Group (NYSE: FBR). Prior to joining FBR, he was a senior securities attorney at Dechert LLP and a branch chief at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. Neal is a member of the board of trustees of Hood College and a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. He served as a member of the board of trustees of the Montgomery County (Maryland) Public Schools Employee Pension for nine years (2004-13) and in 2014 received a Distinguished Service Award from Montgomery County for his contributions. In June 2014, Neal served as co-chair of the Bridges Gala for the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities Bridges from School to Work Program. He received his bachelor of arts from Columbia University and his juris doctor from the University of Pennsylvania. Neal and his spouse, Coleen, reside in Potomac, Maryland, with their six children: Kyle Wilson ’10, Kara Wilson ’12, Megan Wilson ’14, Emily Wilson ’16, Bryn Wilson ’18, and Kelly Wilson ’21.
