ohn is the founder and chairman of Decision Lens, an Arlington-based software company that focuses on strategic prioritization and resource optimization. John co-founded the business with his brother, Dan, in a Falls Church attic in 2005; since then they have built Decision Lens into a national-scale organization with clients in the federal (USDA, GSA, Navy), state, local (Maryland Transit, PennDOT, California Technology Agency), and commercial sectors (Kraft, Johnson & Johnson, Boeing), as well as with professional sports teams (Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Calgary Flames). The software is based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process, a decision theory developed by John and Dan’s father, Dr. Thomas Saaty, a mathematician who teaches at the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh. Prior to founding Decision Lens, John held positions with several technology companies, including Accenture as a consultant and Intel, where he was responsible for brand management and marketing programs for microprocessors and Intel chipsets. John then moved to early-stage technology companies including Cysive and WeatherBug, serving as chief marketing officer for each. John holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in entrepreneurial management and marketing, and an undergraduate degree in English from Northwestern University.
