Meg is an attorney in private practice in Washington, D.C., and is active in many community organizations. She has been actively involved as a volunteer at Sidwell Friends School and has co-chaired the Auction. She served for 12 years on the board of directors of Washington Hebrew Congregation and currently is serving as its president. She is a member of the Brown University Parents Leadership Council and has served as a board member and Executive Committee member of the Jewish Social Service Agency. Meg also has been actively involved with St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School and has served as general counsel of the Kenwood Citizens Association. A native of Nashville, Tennessee, Meg received a bachelor of arts from Wesleyan University and graduated from Harvard Law School. Following law school, Meg practiced corporate and securities law at the the firm of Arnold & Porter. She later acted as counsel to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where she advised the FDIC Board of Directors in connection with a wide variety of regulatory matters and acted as lead attorney in connection with the FDIC’s issuances of mortgage-backed securities. Meg received a master of laws in taxation from Georgetown University Law Center. She is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland bar associations. Meg resides in Chevy Chase, Maryland, with her husband, Samuel Flax. They have three children, Ellen Flax ’17, Andrew Flax ’13, and Caroline Flax ’11.
