Mr. Murphy served as Vice Chairman of the Board and Executive Officer, General Electric Company from 1997 until his retirement in 1999. He reported to Mr. John F. Welch, Chairman and CEO, and was a member of the GE Corporate Executive Office. Previously, he was an Executive Vice President of RCA, responsible for the operation of Communications and Electronic Services and for the Corporate International Development division. Before joining RCA, Mr. Murphy served as a litigation attorney with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and as an attorney with the Central Intelligence Agency. Mr. Murphy was a member of President Reagan’s National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, and is the former chairman and a permanent member of the Board of Directors of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association. Mr. Murphy serves as a director of Lockheed Martin Corporation, BellSouth Corporation from 1999 to 2004, and trustee of St. Francis Hospital.
