Jeffrey A. Kaplan is executive vice president and chief legal officer for LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest plastics, chemicals and refining companies. He was named to this position in May 2015 and in addition to leading the legal department, he is also responsible for the company’s government relations and corporate communications functions. Kaplan joined LyondellBasell in December 2009 as deputy general counsel. Prior to joining the company, he served in a variety of leadership roles at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company, including deputy general counsel. Previously, he was in private law practice in Houston, Texas. He serves as chairman of the Texas General Counsel Forum and is a director of the Houston Bar Foundation. He is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation. Kaplan earned a Bachelor of Science from Amherst College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law.
