Jose Mugrabi

Born in Jerusalem, sent to work with an uncle in the cloth trade in Colombia, Jose moved his family to New York after he had made his money in fabric manufacture, to escape the deadly FARC rebels kidnapping sprees. For the last couple of decades in concert with his two sons, Mugrabi has amassed the world's largest collection of Warhols, numbered in 2009 at 800 and now thought to be at a mind-boggling 1000 works, second only to the collection of the Warhol museum in Pittsburgh. Which does not count the family's many Damien Hirsts, or their many Basquiats.
