Six-time Pro Bowler Eric Allen joined ESPN in 2002 as an NFL analyst. He appears on NFL Live, ESPN Radio and on ESPNEWS on NFL Sundays. One of the NFL’s premier defensive backs, Allen’s career spanned 14 years, including seven seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles (1988-1994), and the remaining seasons with the New Orleans Saints (1995-1997) and Oakland Raiders (1998-2001). Allen retired with 54 career interceptions and played in 214 of a possible 217 games in his career. He was named to the 1988 All-Rookie Team, First Team All-NFL in 1989, ’92, and ’93, the 1993 NFC Defensive Player of the Year and made six Pro Bowls (1989, 1991-1995). A second-round draft pick out ofArizonaStateUniversity, he holds the third all-time NFL record for eight interception returns for touchdowns in his career. While playing for the Eagles, Allen co-hosted the Sunday sports television show on WXTF and KYW in Philadelphia, as well as hosted the pre-game show, Eagles Game Day Live. As a member of the Raiders, Allen appeared as a panelist on CBS’ San Francisco affiliate, 1st Down and 5, a half-hour football show, and appeared as a special studio guest on CBS’ The NFL Today. Allen was named to the Philadelphia Eagles 75th anniversary team in 2007, and he was inducted into the team’s Honor Roll in 2011. He was inducted into the Arizona State Football Hall of Fame in 2008 and a year later into the San Diego Hall of Champions, Breitbard Hall of Fame, honoring San Diego athletes for their accomplishments on and off the playing field. An active member in his community, Allen presently sponsors a team in The High Five America basketball league ofSan Diego.
