Maria Meier is a principal at the Dewey Square Group and has fifteen years of legislative, political and communications experience at the national and local level. A Capitol Hill veteran, her background also includes developing political strategy and coalition-building. Meier helps guide DSG's Multicultural Marketing practice and lends expertise to all facets of the California practice. Prior to joining DSG, Meier was the executive director of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, where she developed and implemented the national strategy for the 21-member organization. She also formed CHC partnerships and coalitions with other organizations, elected officials and businesses to further the CHC agenda. During the 2004 presidential campaign, she helped develop Hispanic messaging and policy stances for the Kerry/Edwards Campaign. Meier has also assisted in the coordination of Latino Democrats in Congress and the Latino Victory Fund - two efforts to shape and bolster Democratic outreach to Latinos. In the private sector, Meier has assisted corporate and non-profit organizations as a communications/outreach consultant. Meier served as a community relations specialist for the City of San Jose and started her career as a legislative assistant to Senator Alan Cranston.
