William Clarkson is an associate in King & Spalding’s Government Advocacy and Public Policy Practice Group in Washington, D.C. Currently, he represents public and private entities on a variety of federal and regulatory issues before the federal government. Before joining King & Spalding, Mr. Clarkson spent almost 7 years working in the United States Senate, first in the office of the late Senator Paul Coverdell (R-GA), then as a Legislative Assistant to Senator Susan Collins (R-ME). In handling her transportation portfolio, Mr. Clarkson advised the Senator on both the Highway and FAA Reauthorization bills, as well as transportation-related Homeland Security issues. Mr. Clarkson also handled numerous appropriations matters for the Senator and worked closely in conjunction with the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, on which Senator Collins is currently the Ranking Member.
