Dr. Paul Nyquist is the ninth president of Moody Bible Institute, which is well known for both its education branch and media ministries, which include Moody Radio and Moody Publishers. Dr. Nyquist's tenure at Moody began on June 1, 2009 and on Oct. 23 in his inaugural address he presented his vision for Moody’s future—"Biblical Vision. Global Mission." A thorough strategic planning process was undertaken, and in November 2011 Nyquist announced his strategic vision and six key directives, setting the direction for the 125-year-old organization which has approximately 600 employees and a $100 million annual budget. Bringing with him 26 years of successful ministry experience, Dr. Nyquist served as president and CEO of Avant Ministries prior to coming to Moody from 2001 to 2009. From 1996 to 2001 he was the senior pastor at First Federated Church in Des Moines, Iowa, and Evangelical Bible Church in Omaha, Neb. from 1983 to 1996. Additionally, he has served on the boards of directors for Avant, Philadelphia Biblical University and CrossGlobal Link, and taught as an adjunct professor at Grace University in Omaha, Neb. and Phoenix Seminary in Scottsdale, Ariz. Dr. Nyquist graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science degree in Architectural Studies and he received a Th.M. and a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Cheryl, have been married for 31 years and are the parents of four grown children, three of whom attended Moody Bible Institute.
