"Tory Patterson is a Partner at Catamount and has advised several start-ups from the idea stage through launch, financing and commercialization. He is deeply involved in the development and management of several of our portfolio companies. He takes an active role assisting founders and management through the financing process and post-financing operations, oftentimes filling gaps in management as the team grows. Tory was a key member of the team that incubated, supported and built Plum Organics (formerly Nest Naturals), from early vision to becoming the world’s largest organic baby and kids’ food company, to eventual successful exit to Campbell’s. Tory leads Catamount’s education investment practice and currently serves on the boards of MasteryConnect, PresenceLearning, Ecologic Brands and EdSurge. He sourced and led the investments in TenMarks (acquired by Amazon) Upworthy and Declara. Tory spends a significant portion of his time looking at education and environmental sustainability as investment themes. Tory is also the founder of Owl Ventures, a venture capital fund focused exclusively on education technology investments. Prior to joining Catamount, Tory was an investment banker focused on technology and healthcare.He was one of the initial team members at both GCA Savvian and Wells Fargo Securities where he played an active role in the development of their teams and early practices. Prior to those roles he was with Robertson Stephens. Tory holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA in Economics from Williams College. He lives in Menlo Park, CA with his wife and children."
