Mustafa Mirza recently retired as Managing Director, GE Capital after a 22-year career. At GE Capital, Mustafa also was Chief Investment Officer of the Global Financial Restructuring Group; led GE’s International distressed and non-performing loans (NPL) investment business and had responsibility for Corporate Finance in Europe and Mexico. He also spent 13 years at Citibank in corporate finance at various locations in Europe, the Middle East and North America. Mustafa has an MBA from CGU-Drucker ’80 and a BA in Economics from CMC ’76. He serves on the CMCAA Board, leading its International Team and the Kravis Leadership Institute Advisory Board. Mustafa’s family has long-standing ties to CMC and the Claremont Colleges. His wife Elizabeth Cairns-Mirza is also a CGU Alumnae ’79, with a Master’s in International Relations. Their son, Akbar Mirza graduated from CMC in 2013 and their younger son, Ali Mirza (recently deceased), would have graduated from CMC in 2015. Mustafa’s younger brother was Muzzi Mirza (CMC ’80, deceased) and his first cousin is Munawar Noorani, CMC ’83.
