rior to joining the Tory Burch Foundation in March 2014, Bari served as Senior Advisor to Senator Cory A. Booker for 11 years, which includes his terms as Mayor of Newark. In this role, she oversaw the Senator’s public/private partnerships and special projects, as well as all political and philanthropic fundraising. During then-Mayor Booker’s tenure, she directed his strategic policy team and was responsible for securing nearly $400 million in philanthropic commitments for the City of Newark. In addition, she was responsible for the formation, initial operations and fundraising for the Foundation for Newark’s Future, Mayor Booker’s innovative education reform initiative. Bari also created the Newark Mentoring Movement, an innovative incubator for mentoring service providers, with the goal of securing 10,000 mentors for Newark youth. Before entering public service, Bari served as Board Chair of the Hetrick-Martin Institute from 1998 through 2003. She was previously a corporate restructuring attorney. She holds a B.A. in political science from Emory University, where she was Phi Beta Kappa and earned her J.D. from New York University Law School.
