Since 1997, Mr. Stanko served as counsel to the House of Representatives’ Committee on Energy and Commerce, advising on environmental and energy matters such as Clean Air Act standards and implementation, energy and coal-related issues, chemical plant security measures and environmental justice. In addition, Mr. Stanko advised the committee on the data quality and information systems of the Environmental Protection Agency and was active in the committee’s oversight of EPA’s programs. While serving on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, Mr. Stanko was a member of the US delegation to the global climate treaty negotiations and the US-Canada transboundary ozone agreement. He served as lead House staffer on several Clean Air Act amendments and other environmental legislation.
