An accomplished litigation attorney who has handled many high profile media cases in New York City, Fredy Kaplan brings over 18 years of legal and government experience to Patricia Lynch Associates. Immediately prior to joining PLA, Fredy served as Legislative Counsel to the New York City Council’s Committees on Economic Development, Parks and Recreation and Technology in Government. As a result of his legal expertise and background, Fredy was chosen by the American Bar Association to serve as one of ten attorneys nationwide to review and give commentary on the proposed Criminal Procedure Law for the governments of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2001. He also was selected by the New York County Independent Judicial Screening Committee in 2004 as a judicial candidate for the Civil Court of the City of New York. Beyond his experience with the City Council and as a principal in a law firm, Fredy has worked as an attorney with the NYS Office of the Attorney General and the Legal Aid Society of Kings County. An active participant in New York City cultural affairs both as an exhibited artist and musician, Fredy has represented numerous artists and art galleries around the city. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Lesbian and Gay Law Association of Greater New York (“LeGal”) from 2002 to 2006. Fredy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Brooklyn College and a Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School. With his vast experience in New York government and law, Fredy brings a keen insight to the table on behalf of PLA’s clients.
