Mary Franco is the President of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation and Vice President of Public Affairs at Norwalk Hospital. In this role, she leads the hospital’s fundraising efforts as well as government relations and community affairs. She joined the organization in June 2006. Franco previously was with General Electric for almost ten years, serving most recently as vice president of corporate citizenship for GE Consumer Finance. In this role, she worked globally to build business partnerships with local governments and non-government organizations to improve local communities. She managed charitable contributions and voluntary programs world-wide, as well as had responsibility for the company’s political action and United Way campaigns and a variety of other community outreach and partnership programs. She was an executive leader and a business co chair in the GE Women’s Network. Prior to joining GE, Franco held leadership positions with the University of Connecticut, where she played a key role in the creation of the university’s Stamford campus, and with the National Spinal Cord Injury Foundation and the Vermont Law School. She is currently a member of the board of directors of the Norwalk Chamber of Commerce, on the advisory council of the Junior League of Southwestern Connecticut, and a corporator for First County Bank. She co chairs the South Central Fairfield County Community Health Assessment and Improvement Plan, and she is a member of the steering committee of the Greater Norwalk Regional Alliance to Prevent and End Homelessness In June 2012, She became a trustee of her alma mater, Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Franco lives in New Canaan, Connecticut with husband Mike (’81) and sons Mick (‘12) and Henry.
