Mamon Powers, Jr. has been in the construction industry for more than 40 years. He began his career with the American Oil Company (AMOCO) and then joined his father at Powers & Sons Construction Co., Inc. in 1971. He served as the Company's Treasurer until he was named President in 1987. Under his leadership, the Company switched its focus from residential to commercial and industrial construction and grew to be one of the largest African-American owned construction companies in the country. Today as the company’s Chairman and CEO he provides the strategic direction and leadership for the company. Mamon graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He is a registered professional engineer with the State of Indiana. Throughout his career, Mamon has been actively involved in various organizations that serve the construction industry and community as a whole. Mamon currently sits on the Board of Directors for Fifth Third Bank's Chicago Region and The Methodist Hospitals in Northwest Indiana. Mamon is also a member of the Construction Advancement Foundation of Northwest Indiana, National Association of Minority Contractors, World Presidents Organization, and Chief Executive Organization.
