Eric’s experience tracking the mobile industry teamed with his financial savvy enables him to guide portfolio companies in making sound business decisions based on a deep understanding of the marketplace. He joined Granite Ventures in 2000. Prior to Granite, Eric was Managing Director and head of the Communications Research Group at Hambrecht & Quist and Chase H&Q. He has tracked the mobile and wireless communications industry from its early days and has followed, advised and financed many of the industry’s pioneering companies. Eric was one of the first research analysts to cover the Internet infrastructure and related IP technologies and services including security, content delivery and hosting. Prior to H&Q, Eric was a General Partner at Volpe, Welty & Company. Currently, Eric serves on the Boards of Directors for AirTight Networks, Empowered Careers, Fastback Networks, Pelican Imaging, Quantance, and RGB Networks. He was responsible for Granite’s investments in Speakeasy, acquired by Best Buy, RF Magic, acquired by Entropic (NASDAQ: ENTR), RipCode, acquired by RGB Networks, Percello, acquired by Broadcom, Localmind, acquired by Airbnb, and Ozmo Devices, acquired by Atmel. Eric received a B.S.E. in biomedical engineering from Purdue University and an M.B.A. from Tulane University’s A.B. Freeman School of Business.
