Ms. Herman joined WHN in June 1998 as an Executive Vice President, ... Specialty Division. She has served the insurance and health plan industries for over 30 years. Ms. Herman was responsible for WellPoint's Dental, Life & AD&D, Pharmacy, Behavioral Health, Workers' Compensation Managed Care Services, Senior Services, and Disability businesses. From April 1999 to March 2000, Ms. Herman served as an Executive Vice President, Senior and Specialty Businesses and Executive Vice President, Senior, Specialty and State-Sponsored Programs Division all at WellPoint Health Networks Inc. She joined Wellpoint Health Networks Inc. in June 1998 as Executive Vice President, Specialty Division and President of specialty businesses. In 1999, she was given additional responsibility for overseeing Wellpoint Inc.'s senior businesses. In 2000, state sponsored programs was added to her division. Additionally, she led efforts to integrate multiple businesses as part of the WellPoint/Anthem merger. Prior to joining WellPoint in 1998, Ms. Herman served as the Senior Vice President, Strategic Development and Senior Vice President, Group Insurance for Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company in Hartford, Connecticut (formerly Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company). In her role as Senior Vice President, Group Insurance, she managed large blocks of group life, medical, dental, long and short term disability and AD&D businesses. She served as a Director of Ramp Corp. (formerly Medix Resources Inc.) from 2000 to September 2003. Ms. Herman served as the Chairman of the Board of Leadership Greater Hartford. She has been a Member of the Strategic Advisory Board at Vital Data Technology, LLC since May 2009. She has been a Member of the board of Directors of the American Academy of Actuaries, the American Leadership Forum, the Hartford Ballet, the Greater Hartford Arts Council, and the Children's Fund of Connecticut. She serves on the board of the Southern California Leadership Network. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries. Ms. Herman graduated at Yale University with a Master of arts degree in Mathematics and did her undergraduate work at Barnard College, Columbia University. Ms. Herman studied Master of Business Administration from Western New England College.
