William J Ryan

age 64, has been a director since 2001 and a director of Anthem Insurance from 2000 to May 2003. Mr. Ryan served as Chairman of the Board of the former Blue Cross Blue Shield of Maine until its acquisition by us in 2000. He has served as Chairman of the Board of TD Banknorth Inc. since 1990 and served as President of TD Banknorth Inc. from 1990 to March 2007. Mr. Ryan serves as a Trustee of Colby College; Director, Anthem, Inc.; Trustee of Libra Foundation; Director, eFunds Corporation; Director, UnumProvident Corporation; Board of Advisors, University of New England; Member, Federal Reserve Advisory Council; and participates in various other civic and professional activities. Mr. Ryan is a graduate of St. Francis College in New York and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University.
